JERPOINT ABBEY
This image of the cloisters of this important abbey shows an abbot of this Cistercian house, established in 1160 AD. A knight of the powerful Butler family (who were major patrons of the abbey) is also shown. At its height the abbey owned some 14,000 acres of land.
